“Afinidades” (the Brazilian word for "affinities") is inspired by the powerful attraction between American jazz and traditional Brazilian musical forms, including choro, frevo, samba and baiao. The group features accordion, guitar, cavaquinho, percussion, bass and drums, playing their original arrangements drawing on American jazz and pop. They perform either as an all-instrumental group (from 4-6 musicians), or also featuring vocalist Ana Fonteles, a dynamic popular singer from the northeast of Brazil.
