Music Samples |
Performing in her native Cameroonian tongue, Kaïssa sings against war and injustice, introducing each song with a brief explanation in English. Her music is a unique blend of reggae, jazz, R&B, makossa, African and Brazilian fusion. As part of her performance, she incorporates elements of traditional African dance, and short dance breaks. Backing her with instrumentals and vocals is an international quartet of musicians from Cameroon, South Africa, Martinique and the United States. The entire show is a testament to the power of music that transcends cultural differences. About KaïssaGrowing up in Paris, Kaïssa quickly became a sought-after performer on the African music scene by such artists as Salif Keita, Papa Wemba, Manu Dibango, as well as international stars Jean-Michel Jarre and Charlelie Couture. Performing and recording world-wide, Kaïssa has received outstanding critical acclaim. In New York City, her home for the past 5 years, Kaïssa has performed with her band at many top venues, including Joe's Pub, Le Bar Bat, SOB's, Zinc Bar, Central Park Summerstage and many others.
