Her superb song styling, her beautiful husky voice, her versatility and extensive repertoire, her exuberance and warmth, and her powerful and dynamic stage presence — all have made Ana Lucia Pereira, known professionally as Ana Lu, a vocalist admired by audiences and musicians alike for over two decades.
Born in São Paulo, Brazil, she began her career performing in that city’s most important nightclubs with The New Boys Group. Her debut album, “Canto Pra Não Chorar”, was recorded in 1978 and produced by Max Pierre (Continental Records). Shortly after that she went to Rio de Janeiro where she starred for two years in the spectacular “Oba Oba,” one of Brazil’s most successful musical shows, produced by Sargentelli. She later toured Canada and the United States with the company. She also has toured internationally with the group Brasil Amor. Ana Lu received extensive media coverage performing several times at Brazil’s top network, TV Globo.
Currently living in New York, Ana Lu regularly performs in the city’s best known hot-spots for jazz musicians, and is much in demand for private events and festivals.
“Like the best interpreters, Ana Lu sings Brazilian pop hits like she owns them.” — Time Out New York
