JoyceCandidosmallerThe exceptional talents of Brazilian vocalist Joyce Candido are captivating from the first notes she sings.  Since moving to the U.S. in 2008, Joyce has showcased her stage presence, unique voice and charisma at many live music venues in and around New York City over the past two years. She has developed a loyal and supportive fan base and has established herself as a stand-out Brazilian singer. An accomplished actress as well as singer, she earned a degree in Music Education from the University Estadual de Londrinaas well as a degree in Piano from The Conservatory Carlos Gomes de Marilia in São Paulo. Joyce studied ballet and theater at the Cultural Fundation in Londrina—Funcart—Brazil. During her time in college, she performed in the musicals “Os Saltimbancos”, “Tropicália”, “Calabar” and “Opera Do Malandro”.

In 2006 Joyce completed her first album “Panapana” which includes her original compositions “Ditado Popular”, “Jasmim” and “Graça”, as well as songs by Luiz Tatit, Hudson Vercelino and Bernardo Pellegrini. The album was produced by Joao Vidotti, composer of the title track.

In New York, she has studied Broadway Jazz, Musical Theater, Ballet, Tap and Vocal at The Broadway Dance Center, Alvin Ailey and Steps on Broadway. She has produced and performed in shows like “Little Mermaid” and “The Sound of Music”.

Most recently, Joyce completed the recording of her new album “Bom e Velho Novo Samba” in Rio de Janeiro. Produced by the great Alceu Maia, this Samba album has songs by renowned composers like Chico Buarque, Noel Rosa, Vadico, Herminio Bello de Carvalho, Luiz Carlos da Vila and Claudio Jorge among others. Joyce is supported by an all-star group of samba musicians including Ivan Machado, Fernando Merlino, Camilo Mariano, Marcelo Pizzotti, Rodrigo Reis, Marcelo Nami, Dirceu Leite, Jussara Lourenço, Jurema Lurenço, Ari Bispo, Breno Maia and Paola Maia. Guest vocalists on the album include actress and singer Leticia Sabatella and the singer Xande de Pilares.

“Bom e Velho Novo Samba” is due for release in late 2010.
