Trio Los Latinos (formerly Los Platinos)
Romantic, authentic bolero music from Puerto Rico (and more)
Trio Los Latinos (formerly Trio Los Platinos) is one of the finest groups playing and singing the traditional, “old-style” romantic music of Puerto Rico. If you know bolero, you’ll recognize the beautiful melodies and harmonies, the lovely vocal arrangements, the incredible guitar playing, and the gentle rhythms. Like many of the old-style “trios,” Trio Los Platinos consists of three core musicians, but often performs with 4-6 members, adding bongos and/or timbales and bass as a rhythm section, and a fourth vocalist. Now, the Trio has added a repertoire that includes danceable rhythms including salsa and merengue — perfect for any party.
About Trio Los Latinos
The Trio consists of Ray Vazquez (lead vocals and maracas); Junior Semilla (harmony vocals, rhythm guitar and bass); and Junior Luciano (lead guitar). For 40 years, these musicians have been performing and carrying on the tradition of the music they love: authentic Puerto Rican bolero music. Members of the Trio have played at almost all of the nightclubs, restaurants and other venues where the public enjoys listening to and/or dancing to this beautiful, traditional music of Puerto Rico. They have appeared several times at the annual “La Fiesta Folklorica Puertorriquena” in Central Park, New York, as well as at Hostos College. They have appeared on TV shows on Spanish language stations, and have won awards from various organizations as well as from “Vanidades” magazine.”
Today they are one of the few authentic Puerto Rican bolero trios in this area, and are undoubtedly among the best.
